Muppets – The Green Album

Ok I came across this cd today and of course picked it up as I love the Muppets.  The thing that really caught my eye is this is basically new versions of classic Muppet tunes.  Which is a pretty awesome idea and will help build momentum for the new movie which comes out this November, which if you’ve seen the trailer looks crazy funny, I mean how can you not like classics like the Muppet Show theme, Rainbow Connection,  Movin’ Right Along and of course It’s Not Easy Bein’ Green.
This cd features bands like Weezer, Ok Go, My Morning Jacket, Alkaline Trio, and more doing some kick ass Muppets covers. If you were a kid when the Muppets were on TV or if you’ve seen any of the Muppets flicks this cd takes you down memory lane.  If you’re a fan of The Muppets this is a must have for your Muppets library or collection. I mean it has Mahna Mahna on it that alone should make you buy this.
More info is available at Disney Music.com where you can sample the album and watch the music video for the Muppets Theme done by Ok Go. Which is a pretty funny video and for me it’s nice to see the Muppets making a comeback as it was one of the shows I grew up on as a kid.
Look for more Muppets content as I plan on reviewing the TV show, movies, and comic books. Two of which just were released on blu-ray just last week, the two being The Muppets Take Manhattan and Muppets from Space.  So go grab this cd as it’s a lot of fun and full of great tunes.
